I like the lessons! I see my fingers are stiff, I think I can handle it. Thank you!!!
Thanks Thomas
Slow but sure and looking forward to my piano learning/playing journey with you!
HI, these lessons are very easy to follow. Not too fast or too slow. wish you could teach in classrooms across the country such that children in minor grades receive a firm musical foundation. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Thomas for your lessons so far , you are very dedicated to your art i have to put more time into practice, as i seem to get bewildered easy and i find it difficult to use my right hand and swapping my thumb, probably because i am left handed and it seems off putting to ask it to do something different.
but i am determined to learn so i can make my son eat his words!
Thank you once again, cheers, Peter B.
Hello Peter,
Thank you for your heartfelt feedback. Everyone has their unique challenges when learning an instrument, and it’s completely natural. Being left-handed might indeed present some initial challenges with the right hand, but with dedication and consistent practice, you’ll overcome them. Your determination is commendable, and I’m here to support you every step of the way. Keep at it, and I’m sure you’ll surprise your son in no time!
Cheers and best wishes,
Thomas

Am I the only one that does not see any video?
Hey Gabby,
I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble viewing the video. You’re not alone; sometimes technical issues can arise. Please try refreshing the page or checking your internet connection. If the problem persists, let me know, and I’ll do my best to assist you further.
Best regards,
Thomas
Thank you..I wish you would name the keys in each chord vs 1 up.I am not able to get to my keyboard.
I love listening to you.
Is there a chord book you can suggest?
As well does the left hand play the same chords as the right hand?
Do you have a book you wrote that we can buy?
Hi Rhonda,
Thank you for your feedback and kind words! I understand the importance of naming the keys, and I’ll aim to be more explicit in future lessons for those who might not have immediate access to their keyboard.
Regarding your questions:
1. While I haven’t published a book, I highly recommend my online course, “Piano Complete.” It covers a wide range of topics and should provide the detailed instruction you’re looking for.
2. Typically, the left hand can play the same chords as the right hand, but often in different inversions or voicings, depending on the piece or the desired sound.
I’m glad to hear you enjoy listening to the lessons, and I truly appreciate your interest and enthusiasm. Looking forward to our continued journey together!
Best wishes,
Thomas
I learned more about basic musical theory from your lesson today than I thought was possible in such a short lesson. Thank you so much

I am 73 and have never played any musical instrument nor do I know one note from another. But I received your email and was inspired by your approach. I just bought a yamaha E453 and have only just begun with the lesson. Stiff old hands! This will be an awesome challenge. Please speake slower and move slower on the chords.
Hi Brenda,
great that you join the crash course and that you want to learn to play piano.
That`s a very good piano. Enjoy playing it.
You can change the speed of the video. Like this you can watch the video slower. You can change the speed with the little wheel.
Keep up the good work and have fun playing piano

I really enjoyed the third lesson. I am excited to learn songs. I really like how you explained the chords.
Hey Mark,
I’m glad to hear you enjoyed the third lesson! It’s awesome that you’re excited to learn songs. Explaining chords in a way that clicks is always my goal, so I’m happy it worked for you.
Keep up the great work and have fun playing!
Best,
Thomas
Gosh, the third lesson was quite difficult but very good. I don’t quite understand the difference between major and minor chords when you are still playing 3 notes.
Hi Tim,
I’m glad to hear you found the third lesson challenging but good! The difference between major and minor chords can be subtle at first, but it becomes clearer with practice and over time.
In a nutshell:
– A **major chord** consists of the root note, a major third, and a perfect fifth. It has a happy or bright sound.
– A **minor chord** consists of the root note, a minor third, and a perfect fifth. It has a sad or somber sound.
The key difference lies in the third note:
– In a **major chord**, the third note is four half steps (semitones) above the root.
– In a **minor chord**, the third note is three half steps (semitones) above the root.
For example:
– **C Major**: C (root) – E (major third) – G (perfect fifth)
– **C Minor**: C (root) – E♭ (minor third) – G (perfect fifth)
Keep practicing, and you’ll get the hang of it! No worries if you don’t understand it right away…
If you have any more questions or need further clarification, feel free to ask.
Best regards,
Thomas
Really like your approach to teaching!!
Does your full course have a guided learning pathway?
I ask as it seems very comprehensive and could be confusing if no structural learning pathway
Hi Martin,
Thanks for the kind words! I’m glad you’re enjoying the teaching approach.
Yes, the full course does have a guided learning pathway. It’s designed to be comprehensive but also structured in a way that makes it easy to follow. Each lesson builds on the previous one, ensuring you progress step by step without feeling overwhelmed.
If you have any other questions or need more details, just let me know. You can always send me an email. I’m here to help!
Best,
Thomas
wonderful
Thank you Karen! Glad you enjoyed it 😊
