  • Hello Thomas,
I am very happy to have piano classes on my sofa with full comfort and I want to thank to you but I have a question that why people use music books and how can i play beautiful music i mean my uncle said to me to play pleasant music but i was not able to play so please make a video that how to play beautiful music.I know your videos are very informative and i am greatly Thank ful to you
    See you next time
    Byeeeeee!

    • Hello Aun,

I’m glad to hear that you’re enjoying the piano lessons from the comfort of your sofa! Music books are often used as they contain sheet music which helps in learning and practicing various pieces. To play ‘beautiful music’, it often comes down to understanding the emotion and story behind the piece, alongside technical skill. The beauty of music is subjective, so what’s beautiful to one person might be different for another.

I love your suggestion of making a video on how to play beautiful music. I’ll certainly keep it in mind for future content. Keep practicing, be patient with yourself, and remember, beauty in music often lies in the emotion it conveys rather than just the notes.

Thank you for your lovely message. See you in the next lesson!

      Best,
      Thomas

  • Hello , I’m from Sri Lanka and I would like thank you for your free lessons which is so clear and valuable I have a keyboard which doesn’t have a paddle can I still play the same way as the piano?

    • Hi Indika,

Greetings from here, and I’m delighted to hear you’re finding the lessons useful! You can absolutely still learn to play your keyboard without a pedal. The pedal adds sustain to the notes, which can create a richer sound on a piano, but it’s not necessary for learning the basics. You can certainly apply all the concepts taught in the lessons to your keyboard. Keep practicing, and enjoy your musical journey!

      Best regards,
      Thomas

  • Thank you Thomas, I find your slow and repetitive pace of teaching so helpful and look forward to lesson 4

    • Hi Jenny,

I’m really glad to hear that you’re finding the pace of the lessons helpful! The beauty of this approach is that you can truly master the basics before moving on to more complex concepts. Looking forward to guiding you through Lesson 4 and beyond!

      Happy practicing,

      Thomas

  • Thank you Thomas for your lessons so far , you are very dedicated to your art i have to put more time into practice, as i seem to get bewildered easy and i find it difficult to use my right hand and swapping my thumb, probably because i am left handed and it seems off putting to ask it to do something different.
but i am determined to learn so i can make my son eat his words!
Thank you once again, cheers, Peter B.

    • Dear Peter,

I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying the lessons and your determination is truly inspiring! It’s perfectly normal to face challenges when starting out, especially when it comes to coordinating both hands. Remember, it’s all about practice and perseverance. Keep at it, and you’ll surely make your son eat his words! Always here to help if you need.

      Keep up the good work!

      Best wishes,
      Thomas

    • Thomas Forschbach says:

      Hello Gabby,

Thank you for reaching out. I apologize for the inconvenience. It seems there might be a technical issue. It could be a browser-related issue. I recommend trying a different browser or clearing your browser cache. If the problem persists, please let me know, and I’ll ensure it’s addressed promptly.

      Best wishes,
      Thomas

  • Thank you..I wish you would name the keys in each chord vs 1 up.I am not able to get to my keyboard.
    I love listening to you.
Is there a chord book you can suggest?
As well does the left hand play the same chords as the right hand?
Do you have a book you wrote that we can buy?

    • Thomas Forschbach says:

      Hello,

Thank you so much for your kind words and feedback; it truly means a lot to me.

While I don’t have a book, I’ve created a specialized course dedicated to chord training. In this course, you’ll dive deep into learning and mastering all major and minor chords in various forms and inversions. It’s tailored to provide an in-depth understanding of chords, and I believe it could be an invaluable resource for you. You can check out more details and access the course here: https://www.werdemusiker.com/chords-the-ultimate-power-training-offer-plus-bonus/.

To answer your question about the left hand: Typically, the left hand can play the same chords as the right but might utilize different inversions or patterns, depending on the style and arrangement.

Thank you again for your support and interest. I’m here to assist and guide you on your musical journey, and I hope the chord training course proves beneficial for you.

      Warm regards,
      Thomas

  • Allen Olayinka Joy says:

Am really confused about what fingers you are using to get the chords
    Many thanks.

    • Thomas Forschbach says:

      Hello Allen Olayinka Joy,

Thank you for reaching out for clarification on the chords. For this particular exercise, I am using the thumb, middle finger, and pinky finger. The thumb typically plays the root note or the lowest note of the chord, the middle finger presses down on one of the middle notes, and the pinky stretches to play the highest note of the chord.

I hope this helps to clear up any confusion! It can take some practice to get comfortable with these fingerings, but keep at it, and it will start to feel more natural over time. If you need more detailed guidance or would like to see a demonstration, please let me know, and I would be happy to provide additional resources to support your learning.

Keep up the great work, and don’t hesitate to ask if you have more questions.

      Best regards,

  • I’m working on the 3rd lesson and you said to write down but it’s hard to remember what you are saying to write. Can you please send me a email telling me what to do, I’m a little slow.

    • Thomas Forschbach says:

      Hi Janice,
take your time and work with the lessons in your own speed.
You can also watch the videos in slow motion. You can change the speed with the little wheel. I hope than you can follow easier and better.

      Have a nice day
